Year 10 Camp

CAMP is ON!



Important information...


Weather: Rain! Please try and find a waterproof raincoat and thermal clothing (fleece, polypropylene, wool - NOT cotton t-shirts and hoodies!)

Time: Meet at the front of school on Tuesday at 8.30am

Ohiwa Camp lesson activities - 

Activity 1) About the area
Create a new post on your blog. 
Copy the questions and write out answers to them.
Use the three links to answer the questions below.  
Make sure you add some images to you post of the Ohiwa harbour area.

Onekawa-te-mawhai - Case study

  • What is the name of the regional park?
  • What hapu opened the park along with the BOP regional council?


  • What bird life are in the area?
  • What Kaimoana can people get?
  • How many Kiwi have been released around the reserves of the Ohiwa harbour area?
  • What pests are there to the bird life?
  • How large is the Ohiwa harbour area?


  • Who are the tangata whenua of the Ohiwa harbour area?
  • What is the other name given to the Ohiwa Harbour?

Activity 2) Beach Safety -


Using either piktochart, Google slides, or Powtoons presentation tools, create a presentation that answers the following questions:

  • How can we identify a rip?
  • How can people survive a rip?
(Use a mixture of images and information to help explain your answer)

Activity 3) Trees -

Either on your blog or using a different presentation tool (piktochart, Google slides, or Powtoons)
Find images of these two trees, and also identify 5 facts on each, including different uses each tree has.
